Environmental education and raising fireflies
Nurturing fireflies to nurture the natural environment
Restoring native organisms to their natural environment. One example of the preservation of an ecological system, essential in restoring the natural environment, is the genji firefly nurturing system developed by TSUCHIYA CORPORATION with technical assistance from Human Design Co., Ltd. This system, combining an artificial riverside environment with a facility for raising fireflies, has made it possible to release genji fireflies every year.
Environments where fireflies can thrive have been decreasing in recent years, but this firefly-rearing system can be used to help create new ones, while providing places for regional exchange.
Note: The firefly-rearing system is a field-proven system designed to take their ecological requirements into account, but local conditions may make it impossible to implement in all situations. Please consult with us in advance concerning possible issues.
